“The Most Beautiful Wedding I Have Ever Attended”
Hi
I’m Hilary and I have been a part of Worthing Baptist Church for about 3 years. I remember seeing Olesya and Evelina the first week they walked into the church, and since then I have got to know more about them, both when being interviewed by Mike and by hearing them speak at their wonderful baptism service earlier this year. I remember feeling very happy for them when they got engaged and heard that Worthing Baptist had the privilege of hosting the ceremony.
The day did not disappoint, beautiful weather setting the day to a perfect start. I felt a sense of excitement when I entered the church, I was also a little nervous, as arriving ahead of time there were many empty seats. I need not have worried as fairly soon there was a full house.
I found the service very moving right from the start, even the part where the congregation loudly cheered them on before they entered. The pure joy on both Olesya and Evelina’s faces as they walked into the church. The service felt so natural and relaxed. I loved it when Mike read the answers to the three questions that he had previously put to them asking what did they love about each other. Olesya mentioning Evelina’s practical skills among her answers, so natural so perfect.
Above all I felt a deep sense of love both between Olesya and Evelina and in the whole church. Love can be an overused word; we love a TV show or a cake. But when you feel love deep in your being you know the difference, and there was no mistake there was love in the building, there was God in the building.
As for me the truth, when same sex marriages were mentioned years ago, I wasn’t a fan. Brought up in church with traditional views to me marriage was between a man and a woman. But how God changes us, not necessarily in a flash but sometimes bit by bit. I now only see couples who love each other just as God loves us. I shared a photo of the wedding to a friend her reply “Oh how lovely don’t they look happy “Perfect. I am thankful that I have been bought to a church with such Love and acceptance.
To Olesya and Evelina, yours truly was the most beautiful wedding service I have ever attended. I pray that your love grows and that you continue to know and feel both the Church’s and God’s love and support.
